Netflix series ‘Downtime’ reveals dramatic makeup transformations

New production stills and behind-the-scenes footage have been released for the Netflix original series ‘Downtime’, starring Mayu Matsuoka and Risa Nakao. The series explores the complexities of the cosmetic surgery industry, focusing on the conflicting philosophies of a reconstructive surgeon dedicated to saving lives and a charismatic cosmetic surgeon who believes in the power of beauty to save people.

Actress Naoko Ken has garnered significant social media attention for her dramatic transformation playing Yuriko Sakashita, a 75-year-old woman with terminal cancer. Seeking to feel beautiful in her final days, her character undergoes extensive full-body plastic surgery. To achieve this transformation, special effects makeup artist Amazing JIRO and his team applied intricate makeup to over ten different facial features, including the nose and eyelids, to depict the patient's appearance before, during, and after the recovery period.
