Netflix series face viewership rise for Avatar and a slate of 2026 cancellations

Netflix reported that the second season of its live‑action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender initially saw a roughly 58% drop in viewership compared with the first season, but audience numbers have gradually increased, returning the show to the Top 10 in several markets, including Mexico.

In the same period, Netflix announced the cancellation of several series slated for 2026. The western "The Abandons" starring Gillian Anderson and Lena Healey was cut early in the year. The supernatural‑retirement drama "The Boroughs: Jubilación rebelde" was cancelled in June after a brief run in the global Top 10. The anime‑style "Terminator Zero" was confirmed withdrawn in February, and the Indian spin‑off of Spain’s "Élite", titled "Class", also ended without a second season. Other titles such as "With Love, Meghan" and "Miss Governor" were among the shows that will not return.
