Fauda season 5 addresses October 7 trauma

The fifth season of the Netflix espionage series ‘Fauda’ has been released, focusing on the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel. Set two years after the events, the new season explores themes of trauma, memory, and the cycle of violence and blood vengeance.

The narrative follows Eli, a former special forces commander who lost his family in the attacks, as he seeks retribution alongside a Bedouin named Salem. Their journey leads them to the Arab quarters of Marseille. Meanwhile, the series' central character, Doron Kavillio, played by co-creator Lior Raz, struggles with his own psychological fragmentation and attempts to intervene in ongoing security threats.

Some episodes are noted for their proximity to real-world events, including documentary-style depictions of attacks on Israeli border communities and the Nova music festival. The production features Mélanie Laurent in a significant role as a character who has undergone radicalization.
