Netflix series ‘Matki pingwinów’ reaches top viewership in Poland

The second season of the Polish Netflix series ‘Matki pingwinów’ (Penguin Mothers) reached the top of the platform's viewership charts in Poland within one day of its October 21 release. The production, created by Klara Kochańska-Bajon and Jagoda Szelc, explores the experiences of families raising neurodivergent children and those managing various forms of disability.

The new season follows the characters as the children enter adolescence, introducing themes of teenage rebellion, family relationships, financial difficulties, and personal crises. Lead actress Magdalena Różczka noted that the series highlights the individuality of mothers with disabilities, challenging the societal expectation that they should exist solely for the purpose of motherhood.

The series has previously received industry recognition, including an Orzeł award for Best Limited Series.
