Netflix series ‘Scandal’ starring Son Ye-jin to premiere in September

Netflix has held a production presentation in Seoul for its upcoming original series ‘Scandal’, directed by Jung Ji-woo. The series is a modern reinterpretation of the 18th-century French novel ‘Dangerous Liaisons’, set against the backdrop of the Joseon Dynasty.

The story follows a dangerous game of love involving Lady Cho (played by Son Ye-jin), a talented woman living within the constraints of her era, and Jo Won (played by Ji Chang-wook), a renowned playboy. The narrative also features Heeyeon (played by Nana), whose life is transformed by their wager.

During the event, Son Ye-jin noted that the role of Lady Cho allowed her to express complex emotions suited to her current age, marking her return to historical dramas after 24 years. Director Jung emphasized the use of Pansori to enhance the series' aesthetic and emotional depth. The series is scheduled for release on Netflix on September 18.
