Netflix to release FTX scandal drama ‘The Altruists’ in November

Netflix has announced the release of ‘The Altruists’, an eight-part drama series chronicling the rise and fall of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Scheduled to premiere on November 19, the series focuses on the relationship between Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, whom creators have described as ‘Gen Z’s Bonnie and Clyde’.

Based on reporting from New York Magazine, the show explores how the two ambitious individuals attempted to reshape the global financial system before being accused of misappropriating billions of dollars in customer funds. The production was filmed in Vancouver and stars Anthony Boyle as Bankman-Fried and Julia Garner as Ellison.

The series arrives amid the ongoing legal aftermath of the FTX collapse, following Bankman-Fried’s 25-year prison sentence for fraud and witness intimidation.
