Netflix develops Dungeons & Dragons series ‘Ravenloft’
Netflix is developing a new live-action series titled ‘Ravenloft’, based on the popular Dungeons & Dragons setting. The project is being produced in collaboration with Hasbro Entertainment and features Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón as an executive producer.
Written and executive produced by John August, the series will focus on the origins of the iconic vampire villain Strahd von Zarovich. The narrative is described as a prestige fantasy that blends gothic horror, dark magic, and tragic romance, tracing Strahd’s transformation from a tragic antihero into a notorious Darklord.
The development of ‘Ravenloft’ follows reports that Netflix has moved away from a previously announced live-action series set in the ‘Forgotten Realms’ universe. While the new project is in its early stages, no official release date, cast, or episode count has been announced.
