Netflix to develop live-action Persona series

Netflix is developing a high-budget live-action television series based on the Japanese Persona video game franchise from SEGA and Atlus. Christopher Monfette, known for his work on Star Trek: Picard, will serve as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer.

The production involves 21 Laps Entertainment, the company behind Stranger Things, and Story Kitchen, a production house specializing in video game adaptations such as Tomb Raider and Life is Strange. Toru Nakahara of SEGA will act as an executive producer to ensure creative oversight from the original creators.

While the specific game being adapted has not been confirmed, speculation suggests the series may focus on Persona 5 or the upcoming Persona 4 Revival. The project aims to translate the complex RPG elements of the franchise into a Western television format for a global audience.
