Netflix to host Gladiator and Gladiator II in October 2026

The Ridley Scott-directed Roman epic ‘Gladiator’ and its sequel, ‘Gladiator II’, are scheduled to arrive on Netflix on October 21, 2026.

The original 2000 film, which earned five Academy Awards including Best Picture and grossed approximately $465 million worldwide, stars Russell Crowe as the Roman general Maximus. The sequel, which premiered in cinemas in November 2024, features Paul Mescal as Lucius, the grown-up character who witnessed Maximus’s death in the first installment.

This streaming move is viewed as a strategic effort to capitalize on the enduring cultural relevance of the franchise. Ridley Scott has previously noted that the film’s historical setting serves as a commentary on contemporary issues.
