Netflix to launch 'A Different World' reboot on Sep 24

Netflix announced that its reboot of the 1987‑1993 sitcom “A Different World” will premiere on September 24 with a ten‑episode first season. The series follows Deborah Wayne, the daughter of original characters Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison), as she enrolls at the fictional historically Black college Hillman College.

The show features a new generation of students—Rashida Duvall, Shaquille Johnson, Amir Rodale, Hazel Henry and Kojo Achebe—while bringing back several original cast members. Felicia Pride serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner, with Debbie Allen and other veteran producers attached. First‑look images released by Netflix highlight the modern campus setting and the blend of legacy characters with fresh storylines.
