Netflix to produce documentary on football legend Marta

Netflix has announced the production of a documentary following the career of Brazilian football legend Marta. Directed by Eliza Capai and produced by Conspiração Filmes, the film will feature previously unseen testimonies and revisit key moments from her 25-year career, including her time playing in Brazil, Sweden, and the United States.

The documentary is expected to follow her preparations for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, which will be hosted in Brazil and is anticipated to be her final appearance in the tournament. Marta, a six-time FIFA World Player of the Year, currently plays for Orlando Pride in the United States.

In a related development, actress Alice Carvalho has been cast to portray Marta in an upcoming biographical film. Carvalho noted that the role required her to learn Swedish to reflect the athlete's period living in Sweden, and that the production will include dialogue in both English and Swedish.
