Moria Casán: Netflix to release biographical series

Netflix is set to release “Moria”, an eight-episode biographical series celebrating the 80th birthday of Argentine icon Moria Casán. The production, directed by Javier Van de Couter, explores the life of the actress and cultural symbol, tracing her journey from a vedette in the 1970s to a television and film star.

To portray different stages of her life, the series utilizes three primary actresses: Sofía Gala Castiglione depicts her early years, Griselda Siciliani portrays her during the 1990s, and Cecilia Roth plays the mature version of the character. The series is described as a stylized blend of biopic and cabaret revue, featuring themes of transgression, independence, and personal history.

Casán herself participates in the production as a narrator, acting as a “puppeteer” of her own story. The series will also include appearances by her granddaughter, Helena, and explores various aspects of her life, including her romantic relationships and her impact on Argentine popular culture.
