Netflix to release documentary on Trump’s secret plane swap in Turkey

Netflix has announced the release of a new documentary titled ‘The Decoy Plane’, scheduled to premiere on September 4 as part of its ‘Instadocs’ series. The film investigates a controversial security maneuver involving Donald Trump during a trip to Turkey in July.

Following a NATO summit in Ankara, Trump appeared to board the presidential Air Force One on camera. However, Secret Service agents subsequently moved him secretly via a catering truck to a different aircraft to evade a potential Iranian threat. This maneuver left members of the White House staff and a group of journalists on the original plane, unaware that the president was no longer aboard and that the aircraft was being used as a decoy.

The documentary features testimonies from journalists who were on the flight, a former Secret Service agent, and a former member of the Air Force One crew. The production aims to explore the details of the operation and the resulting debate regarding the safety of the press versus the necessity of presidential protection.
