Netflix to release Lizzie Borden installment of Monster anthology

Netflix will release the fourth installment of Ryan Murphy’s “Monster” true-crime anthology, titled “Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story,” on September 17. The eight-episode miniseries focuses on the 1892 case in Massachusetts involving Lizzie Borden, who was accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe.

While Borden was ultimately acquitted due to a lack of conclusive evidence, the series explores the social stigma and domestic pressures within her wealthy New England family. The production features Ella Beatty in the title role, alongside Charlie Hunnam, Rebecca Hall, Billie Lourd, and Vicky Krieps.

In a narrative connection to previous installments, Sarah Paulson will appear in a special capacity as serial killer Aileen Wuornos, portraying a character inspired by the Borden legend. This season marks the first in the franchise to center on a female figure, following previous seasons covering Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers, and Ed Gein.
