Netflix to release Matthew Perry documentary in October 2026

Netflix has announced the release of ‘The One About Matthew Perry’, a three-part documentary series scheduled to premiere on October 27, 2026. The production, directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson, aims to explore the life and legacy of the late actor, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on ‘Friends’.

The series will feature interviews with his sister, Mia Perry Bowick, as well as longtime friends and colleagues. It is expected to utilize previously unreleased personal photos and videos from the family's private archives to provide an intimate look at Perry’s life, including his career in Hollywood and his public struggles with addiction.

Notably, the original ‘Friends’ cast—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer—have declined to participate in the project. Sources indicate that the actors were contacted but chose not to be involved, with reports suggesting that Aniston, in particular, wished to avoid the public emotional difficulty of revisiting the loss.
