Netflix to release MiG-21 documentary ‘The Last Salute’

Netflix has announced the release of ‘The Last Salute’, a documentary exploring the 62-year legacy of the MiG-21 fighter aircraft within the Indian Air Force. Directed by Kushal Srivastava and produced by Matchbox Shots, the film is set to premiere globally on August 26.

Following the success of the series ‘Operation Safed Sagar’, which focused on the Indian Air Force’s role in the 1999 Kargil War, this new documentary shifts focus to the aircraft itself and the generations of pilots who operated it. The production will feature insights from Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal A. P. Singh, alongside various pilots who flew the MiG-21.

The documentary aims to capture personal memories and untold stories regarding the aircraft’s impact on Indian aviation and the emotional bond shared by air warriors throughout its decades of service.
