Netflix to release new Michael Schumacher documentary on October 2

Netflix has announced the release date for a new documentary titled ‘Schumacher ’94 – The Birth of a Legend’, scheduled to premiere worldwide on October 2. The film focuses on the 1994 Formula One season, the year Michael Schumacher secured his first world championship while driving for Benetton.

The documentary aims to provide a detailed look at a tumultuous year in motorsport, covering Schumacher’s journey from his opening victory in Brazil to the controversial season finale in Adelaide, Australia. It will address the intense competition of the era, including the tragic deaths of drivers Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna, as well as allegations of manipulation involving the Benetton team.

In addition to racing footage, the production features personal insights from Schumacher’s wife, Corinna Schumacher, and various figures from the Formula One community, including Bernie Ecclestone, Flavio Briatore, and David Coulthard. The film serves as a follow-up to Netflix’s 2021 biographical documentary, ‘Schumacher’, and offers a more specific lens on the season that established the German driver as a global icon.
