Netflix to stream ‘Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Prison Raid’ on September 13

Netflix has announced that the live-action film ‘Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Prison Raid’ will begin streaming on September 13. This production is the second installment in the live-action series based on Satoru Noda’s hit manga.

Set in late Meiji-era Hokkaido, the story follows former soldier Saichi Sugimoto, played by Kento Yamazaki, and the Ainu girl Asirpa, played by Anna Yamada, as they hunt for vast Ainu gold reserves. This installment focuses on the raid of Abashiri Prison, which houses 700 dangerous criminals, including characters such as Lieutenant Tsurumi and Hijikata Toshizo.

The film features an extensive ensemble cast, including Gordon Maeda, Jun太郎 Yanagi, and Hiroshi Tamaki. The production is directed by Kenji Katagiri with a screenplay by Tsutomu Kuroiwa.
