Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 preview introduces Toph at IGN Live
At IGN Live, Netflix presented a preview of Season 2 of its live‑action series Avatar: The Last Airbender, highlighting the debut of the beloved earthbender Toph. Cast members Gordon Cormier (Aang), executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani, and actress Miyako, who plays Toph, appeared on the panel.
Miyako explained she was “dedicated to portraying her as true to the animated series as possible,” and praised the stunt team and blindness consultant Joe Strechay for ensuring an accurate representation of Toph’s blindness. She recalled filming barefoot in Vancouver’s winter, refusing shoes even when snow fell.
Boylan noted the writers asked what elements they loved across the original series and what might be better left to animation, while also emphasizing the chance to explore deeper fights and emotions with live actors. Cormier joked that Aang appears taller, his voice deeper, and can now water‑bend, preparing him for higher stakes. Seasons 2 and 3 were shot back‑to‑back with only a month’s break, and the new season launches on Netflix on June 25, 2026.
