Netflix's 'Little House' reboot wins season 2, meets 'woke' criticism
Netflix confirmed a second season of its Little House on the Prairie reboot, with filming already underway in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine said the series will continue following the Ingalls family as they move toward Walnut Grove, and announced that newcomer Willa Dunn will portray the iconic bully Nellie Oleson in the upcoming season.
Sonnenshine also addressed recent conservative backlash, rejecting the label “woke” and emphasizing that the show’s inclusion of characters such as Dr. George Tan, a Black doctor, and an expanded Osage family reflects historical reality rather than agenda‑driven rewriting. She described “woke” as a “catch‑all for things people don’t like” and defended the series’ focus on social‑justice themes.
German coverage highlighted that original series star Alison Arngrim made a brief cameo as the forest‑dwelling character Ida, while the reboot topped Germany’s Netflix charts after its July 9 launch. A Rotten Tomatoes rating for the series was also posted, underscoring its strong reception.
