Netherlands arrests 20‑year‑old suspected of joining ISKP

Dutch police detained a 20‑year‑old man from Bergen op Zoom on 30 July after the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said he intended to travel abroad to join the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), a South‑Asian branch of ISIS. He is also suspected of preparing a terrorist attack and of having contact with an ISKP operative who directs attacks.

The Special Intervention Service (DSI) seized data carriers, including a USB stick, from his residence. He was brought before a Rotterdam magistrate and ordered to remain in pre‑trial detention for at least two weeks, with communication limited to his lawyer.
