Netherlands bids to host 2032 Indoor Athletics World Championships

The Dutch Athletics Union announced its intention to bid for the 2032 Indoor Athletics World Championships, proposing Omnisport in Apeldoorn as the venue. The bid was revealed during a team meeting ahead of the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham. The Netherlands previously hosted the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, where Dutch athletes secured seven gold medals, including Femke Bol, Lieke Klaver and Samuel Chapple.

At the opening match of the domestic competition, former club legends Edward Sturing and John Leeuwerik were honoured with the symbolic kickoff. Vitesse also signed 24‑year‑old goalkeeper Tyrick Bodak on a one‑season contract after his stint with Telstar and participation with Curaçao at the World Cup.

The bid aims to bring the global indoor athletics event to the Netherlands, highlighting the country's recent successes in the sport.
