On June 26 2026 at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, the Netherlands defeated Tunisia 3‑1 to finish the group stage unbeaten and top Group F with seven points. The match opened with a Tunisian own‑goal by captain Ellyes Skhiri in the third minute, followed four minutes later by Brian Brobbey’s strike. Tunisia pulled one back through Hazem Mastouri’s header in the 54th minute, but Jan Paul van Hecke restored the Dutch lead from a corner at 62 minutes.

The victory sends the Dutch side, coached by Ronald Koeman, into the round of 16 where they will meet Morocco. Koeman warned against under‑estimating the North‑African team, describing Morocco as “a very good, attacking side.” Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen, a Dutch fan, later said the knockout path will be “tough” depending on future opponents. The match was officiated by Mexican referee Katia Itzel García, the first Latina to referee a men’s World Cup game.

Netherlands players highlighted the need to improve defensively despite scoring ten goals in three group games, while Tunisia finished bottom of the group without a point.
