Netherlands donates equipment to boost Nigeria's migration and border reforms
The Kingdom of the Netherlands reaffirmed its partnership with Nigeria by handing over a set of equipment to the Nigeria Immigration Service’s (NIS) Hostmanship Unit in Abuja on Monday. The donation, presented by Chargé d’Affaires Ronald Sonnemans, includes a 24 kVA solar inverter, a 20‑kilowatt backup lithium battery, two 75‑inch LG Smart TVs with accessories, a digital projector and screen, and nine decorative window blinds.
Comptroller‑General of Immigration Kemi Nandap said the equipment will strengthen the unit’s training capacity and overall border‑management efficiency, complementing the ongoing Mobile Team Project and a new leadership programme for senior NIS officers slated to begin in September. The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) was praised for its support. Sonnemans reiterated that the Netherlands will stay committed to cooperating with Nigeria on migration management and irregular‑migration challenges.
