Netherlands expands social housing with 132 homes in The Hague and 28 units in Budel‑Schoot

A total of 132 new social rental homes were completed on Beresteinlaan in the Escamp district of The Hague. The development includes 42 maisonettes and 90 two- and three‑room apartments, equipped with solar panels and a green roof to improve energy efficiency and biodiversity. Residents began moving in as the project, led by housing corporation Hof Wonen, contributes to the municipality’s renewal program for The Hague Southwest.

In Budel‑Schoot, 28 households received keys to brand‑new social rental units on Sint Lambertusstraat. Built by woCom in partnership with the Cranendonck municipality and contractor Van Gerven, the zero‑step homes are designed for one‑ and two‑person households, are energy‑efficient, and aim to provide long‑term affordable living for starters, seniors and other residents.

Both projects are part of broader Dutch efforts to increase affordable, sustainable housing and strengthen local neighbourhoods.
