Netherlands expands social housing with tenant compensation in The Hague and new units in Werkendam
Around thirty tenants of the former Ministry of Social Affairs building in The Hague have reached a settlement with developer Vorm. They will receive a compensation package worth up to half a million euros and guaranteed alternative housing in the city centre, preventing homelessness.
In Werkendam, fourteen new social‑rental homes were handed over to residents as part of the “Achter de Schans” expansion. The units are built to be nearly energy‑neutral and add to a broader development of about 300 housing and mixed‑use units in the area.
