Netherlands finalises major railway station upgrades in Nunspeet and The Hague

The municipality of Nunspeet celebrated the completion of its station‑area redevelopment, which added two tunnels—one for fast traffic opened in April 2025 and a slower traffic tunnel opened in June 2025—along with new green spaces, a renovated parking area and a new toilet block. The project, costing around €50 million, was subsidised by the European Union, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and the province of Gelderland, and was described by local officials as the largest municipal investment in Nunspeet’s history.

In The Hague, a three‑year reconstruction of Den Haag Centraal was formally opened by State Secretary Annet Bertram. The overhaul reorganised twelve tracks into three dedicated routes toward Rotterdam, Gouda/Utrecht and Leiden, reducing train crossings and improving reliability for the roughly 250,000 daily passengers. The work was carried out while the station remained operational and was marked by a celebration on 16 July, including a replica model built by a local hobby club.
