Netherlands glamping boom driven by family savings and adult‑only camps

A family in Goes, led by 36‑year‑old Mieke, saves €600 each month to fund an annual luxury glamping holiday in Mallorca. The family’s spending on the upscale campsite, flights, car hire and activities draws criticism from relatives who consider the cost excessive, but the parents argue the experience creates lasting memories.

In the northern province of Groningen, adult‑only (child‑free) camps such as De Drie Provinciën, Leenstertillen and others report full bookings for the summer. Owners Brigitte Koninga and Ronald Boels, as well as Pop Wijbenga, note a surge in demand from couples, singles and grandparents seeking a quiet stay, with visitors coming from Dutch cities and abroad, including Norway and Sweden. The camps are considering expansion despite limited space.
