Netherlands healthcare premiums and deductibles set to rise in 2027

The Dutch government expects healthcare premiums to rise by an average of €12.50 per month in 2027, bringing the average monthly cost to approximately €169. While individual insurers like VGZ and CZ are expected to announce their specific rates by November 12, 2026, some insurers such as DSW have delayed their announcements pending clarity on legislative changes.

Additionally, the mandatory healthcare deductible (eigen risico) is projected to increase from €385 to €400 in 2027. For those managing finances, the January 1 reference date is critical for Box 3 wealth taxation and gift tax exemptions. The government is also considering lowering the tax-free wealth threshold for Box 3 in 2027, which could impact savings and investment strategies.
