Netherlands holds commemorations for World War II victims

Commemorative ceremonies were held in the Netherlands to honor victims of the Second World War.

In Gouda, Lex van der Helm delivered a speech during a Holocaust remembrance event. He addressed the local Jewish community and officials, noting that 390 citizens of Gouda were murdered during the Shoah. Van der Helm emphasized the importance of understanding the historical decrees and measures used to marginalize Jewish citizens between 1933 and 1945 to prevent such catastrophes from recurring.

Separately, SV Kampong held a reunion and memorial service to honor 31 club members who died as war victims during World War II. Paul Kok, secretary of the SV Kampong board, spoke at the event, which also marked the anniversary of the unveiling of the club's monument designed by architect Jan de Haas.
