Netherlands hosts nighttime cultural and environmental initiatives

Various cultural and environmental initiatives are scheduled in the Netherlands to highlight the importance of nighttime experiences.

The 22nd edition of ‘Night of the Night’ will take place on October 24. Organized by Nature and Environment Federations, including the Friese Milieu Federatie, the event aims to raise awareness about light pollution. The initiative encourages reducing unnecessary lighting to protect nocturnal wildlife and support human sleep rhythms, noting that the Netherlands is among the most light-polluted countries globally.

Additionally, the ‘Night of the Castle’ festival will debut on November 20. Organized by Stichting Dag van het Kasteel, the event will feature evening programs at Kasteel Oud Wassenaar, Kasteel Duivenvoorde, and the Huygens Museum. The festival intends to offer a new way to experience heritage through evening routes, legends, and light and sound activities, specifically targeting younger audiences and international visitors.
