Netherlands housing renewal projects completed in Bareveld and Moerwijk

Housing renewal projects in the Netherlands have reached significant milestones in Bareveld and Moerwijk. In Bareveld, Veendam, the redevelopment of the neighborhood is complete following the delivery of 40 new, energy-efficient homes. Built by housing corporation Acantus in collaboration with Benus, the new residences on Pijlkruidstraat and Ericastraat include single-family and life-course-proof homes equipped with solar panels. The project replaced older rental properties that had suffered from issues such as moisture and poor insulation.

In Den Haag, a two-year renovation of 235 social rental homes in the Moerwijk district has also concluded. The project, managed by housing corporation Staedion and executed by Dura Vermeer Heyma, focused on sustainability and modernization. Improvements included replacing kitchens, bathrooms, and toilets, renewing balconies, and installing full exterior insulation. Additionally, the homes have transitioned from gas to electric cooking to support sustainability goals.
