Netherlands insulation subsidies vary by municipality

Research by the interest group Vereniging Eigen Huis reveals significant disparities in local insulation subsidies across Dutch municipalities. The amount of financial support available to homeowners depends heavily on their place of residence, with maximum subsidies ranging from €1,300 in Zwolle to €4,000 in Heerlen.

Beyond the monetary amounts, the conditions for receiving aid vary. Some municipalities only cover insulation, while others include ventilation or energy advice. Additionally, requirements regarding the construction year of the home and the timing of applications differ between regions. The study also noted a lack of alignment between municipal schemes and the national ISDE subsidy, noting that some local rules require applications to be submitted beforehand, whereas the national scheme is applied for afterward.
