Netherlands launches €1 bus tickets for drivers during Autoluwe Week

From 6 to 14 June, public‑transport operators Transdev and Connexxion are offering a €1 e‑ticket that allows motorists to travel by bus for a full day in several Dutch regions, including the Hoeksche Waard, Goeree‑Overflakkee, Amstelland‑Meerlanden, Gooi en Vechtstreek, Haarlem‑IJmond, Noord‑Holland Noord and Arnhem‑Nijmegen. The ticket, called the “Autoluwticket”, can be purchased in advance online; riders must show the e‑ticket and their car key to the driver when boarding.

The promotion, part of the yearly Autoluwe Week, aims to demonstrate that public transport can be a cheap and environmentally friendly alternative to driving, especially as fuel prices have risen sharply. Organisers highlight benefits such as no fuel costs, no need for parking, reduced emissions and less road congestion.

Tickets are valid after 09:00 on weekdays and all day on weekends, and can be used for commuting, leisure trips or any daily travel within the participating concession areas.
