Netherlands launches innovative co‑housing projects in Delft and Anloo

In Delft, 150 residents from more than 40 countries moved into The Urban Woods, a high‑tech, modular rental complex that blends sustainable living with shared facilities such as a gym, rooftop garden, coffee corner and on‑demand add‑ons like e‑bike or office space. Co‑founder and architect Tim Vermeend said, “Traditional renting is really outdated,” adding that the model tackles housing shortage, climate change and the desire for flexible, community‑focused homes.

In the village of Anloo, a group of private initiators is proposing a collective building project for 13 new houses on the Raatakkers site, offering a mix of low‑, middle‑ and premium‑segment homes. The municipal council of Aa en Hunze has shown support, and the council will vote on the permit with a decision expected on 18 June. Approval would advance the second phase of the Raatakkers neighbourhood development.
