BES islands students to receive extra guidance in Netherlands

The Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has launched a pilot program to provide additional guidance for second-year students from the BES islands (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba) studying in the European Netherlands.

Executed by the organization TuranGoeloe, the program includes weekly online or in-person drop-in sessions and “Peer-to-Peer Vibes” meetings where students can share experiences and tips. The initiative aims to address findings from previous research indicating that students require support beyond their first year of study.

The program, which runs until August 1, 2028, covers students in mbo, hbo, and wo programs. ResearchNed will evaluate the results to assist the ministry in determining future support structures for students from Caribbean Netherlands.
