Netherlands-linked cocaine shipments intercepted in Europe and Liberia

Dutch prosecutors are pursuing a criminal network that used a transformer, disguised as solar‑panel equipment, to bring 506 kg of cocaine through Luxembourg into the Netherlands. Four men were arrested; the prosecution seeks a seven‑year sentence for the alleged ringleader, four‑year terms for two accomplices and an additional half‑year for weapons possession. The case follows earlier investigations that revealed the company’s use of a solar‑panel front for drug transport.

In Liberia, authorities seized 237.6 kg of cocaine worth about €17 million at Roberts International Airport, hidden in cargo containers destined for Europe on a Brussels Airlines flight. Investigators link the haul to Dutch fugitive drug baron Jos Leijdekkers, who is believed to be hiding in Sierra Leone. Six airport employees were arrested and intelligence services from the United Kingdom, Denmark, the United States and Belgium are cooperating on the wider investigation.
