Netherlands mother charged in death of 14‑year‑old daughter in Blerick

On 20 April, 14‑year‑old Nour was discovered dead, bound to a bed with tape at a residence on Elzenstraat in the Blerick district of Venlo, Netherlands. Forensic examination is ongoing to identify trace evidence on the tape.

The 59‑year‑old mother, Fouzia R., confessed to stabbing her daughter multiple times and is being held in pre‑trial detention. The father was also arrested at the scene and remains a suspect. The case was presented at the Roermond court, where the mother was ordered to undergo behavioural observation at the Pieter Baan Centrum. Motive and the circumstances of the binding are still unclear.
