Netherlands national team sees new talent emerge amid Depay return speculation

The Netherlands national football team is seeing a shift in its attacking options following recent performances. New players Mexx Meerdink and Ruben van Bommel have received praise for their impact, with commentators noting Meerdink’s presence as a positive addition to the squad despite a mistake leading to a conceded goal.

There is ongoing discussion regarding the potential return of Memphis Depay to the national team. While Depay is currently absent from the squad, manager Xavi has indicated that the door is not permanently closed for the Corinthians striker. Journalist Valentijn Driessen suggests that Xavi’s current selection focus is limited to the immediate upcoming matches, leaving room for Depay to reintegrate in future windows.

The current attacking lineup for the upcoming international break includes Meerdink and Joshua Zirkzee, following the withdrawal of Donyell Malen and Brian Brobbey.
