Dutch police arrests after high‑speed chases in Barendrecht and Rijswijk

On 6 August 2026 police in Barendrecht stopped a high‑speed pursuit that began on the A20 near Rotterdam. The suspect abandoned a damaged white car, which leaked oil onto the road. A police dog later uncovered a black sock hidden in a hedge containing a quantity of illegal drugs. The driver was taken to the police station and the vehicle was removed by a recovery firm.

A separate chase started in The Hague’s Laak district and ended on Rijswijk’s Schaapweg, where officers immobilised the fleeing car. The driver, whose vehicle was uninsured and equipped with a temporary spare wheel, was arrested and the car seized. Police continue investigations into both incidents.
