Netherlands pushes industrial decarbonisation and expands sustainability job portals

The Dutch sustainability sector is growing rapidly, with a surge in jobs related to the energy transition. A recent overview highlighted the three leading vacancy platforms in the Netherlands – Sustainablejobs.nl, Greenjobs.nl and Fondsen.org – noting their extensive listings for roles such as sustainability advisor, energy‑transition specialist and climate‑adaptation expert, as well as features like searchable CV databases and strong visibility among employers.

At the same time, the Netherlands' parliamentary commission will debate industrial decarbonisation on 10 September 2025. Industry leaders stress that limited electricity‑grid capacity hampers the shift to renewable power. Net operators propose expanding and repurposing infrastructure, while urging the government to secure a level playing field in Europe, enable flexible large‑scale electricity use, and prioritise affordable energy mixes that include electrification, (blue) hydrogen and carbon‑capture‑and‑storage. European‑wide tariff harmonisation and continued offshore‑wind ambitions are also called for.
