Netherlands regions formalize sport support partnerships

Municipalities and sport federations in the Noord‑Veluwe region signed a cooperation convention at the National Sport Congress in Papendal. The agreement creates a joint network of club‑support providers, standardises a single club‑monitor questionnaire and aims to reduce administrative burdens for volunteer‑run sport clubs.

In Gelderland, the province was confirmed as a host for the Dutch Cycling Festival 2028, which will include the European BMX Racing Championships and the UEC congress at Sportcentrum Papendal. The event marks the KNWU's centenary and is intended to boost cycling participation, especially among children, through collaboration between the KNWU, the provincial government, local municipalities and national sport federations.
