Netherlands reports multiple emergencies on July 27, including bus crash and forest fire

On July 27 a bus in Rijswijk made an emergency stop after avoiding a collision with a car, injuring several passengers; two were taken to hospital. Police also carried out speed checks on the N223, issuing fines to motorists exceeding limits, including a motorbike recorded at 98 km/h, and arrested a driver suspected of alcohol intoxication. In The Hague police seized more than 800 kg of fireworks, including around 50 "cobra" devices, and detained nine suspects.

In Leeuwarden the Professor Gerbrandyweg was closed after police reported a person armed with a firearm; the Special Intervention Service was deployed and two suspects were arrested on suspicion of serious assault. A bridge in Terherne was shut for emergency repairs, and a gas‑leak incident in Harlingen was declared non‑dangerous. A mobile crane accident in Sibrandabuorren caused a local bridge to be closed, with no serious injuries.

Further incidents included a forest fire in the woods of Landgoed Nienoord near Leek, which was largely extinguished by police and fire crews, a car collision on the Damsterdiep in Stad with unclear injuries, and a scooter fire in Feanwâlden. These events illustrate a day of varied emergency responses across the Netherlands.
