Multiple vehicle collisions and explosions reported across the Netherlands

A series of traffic accidents occurred on Dutch highways on 20‑21 May. On the A28 between ’t Harde and Zwolle‑Zuid, three coaches, a car and a truck collided, closing three lanes and causing hour‑long delays; a scooter rider was also seriously injured on the Kruissteenweg in Wierden. On the A15 near Ridderkerk, two cars hit each other, leaving one person lightly wounded and prompting red cross traffic signs on two lanes.

In the town of Spijkenisse, a house on Crocusstraat that had been the target of several explosions remained closed pending safety checks, with the closure extended to 3 June. Earlier that night, two parked cars caught fire after a series of loud bangs and smaller explosions, causing extensive vehicle damage while investigators searched for the cause.

Other incidents in Gelderland and Overijssel included a motorcyclist killed after a crash in Vuren, a fatal bicycle‑car collision in Duiven, and a house fire in Maurik caused by roofing work. Police investigations are ongoing for the various accidents and the repeated explosions.
