Netherlands sees spate of road accidents, shootings and animal deaths

Emergency services across the Netherlands dealt with a series of incidents in mid‑June. In Rusthoff park near Teylingen, authorities reported multiple dead wild animals and temporarily closed a children’s farm as a precaution while the cause was investigated. A fatal car collision on the A13 between Delft and the Rotterdam‑The Hague Airport exit left a 60‑year‑old man from Rotterdam dead, and a body was later found in the Zegerplas near Alphen aan den Rijn.

Violent incidents included a shooting on Sportlaan in Goudais that injured a passer‑by, and a three‑vehicle crash on the A7 between Groningen and Leek that forced lane closures. In Zuidbroek, a man was threatened, severely assaulted and held captive for several hours before being taken to hospital. Additional emergencies involved an electric car fire in Groningen, a truck‑cab blaze on the Koningsweg, and several minor road accidents in the northern provinces.

Police continue investigations into the shootings and assaults while health services tend to the injured and families affected by the accidents.
