Netherlands walking routes spotlighted in Oudenbosch‑Etten‑Leur and Pelgrimspad
The "Dwars door Brabant" stage from Oudenbosch to Etten‑Leur follows an asphalt‑surfaced trail across the flat polder landscape of North Brabant. Walkers pass windmills, solar farms and fields of sunflowers, and can visit the historic basilica of St. Agatha and St. Barbara in Oudenbosch, a landmark modeled on Roman churches. The route also highlights the region’s peat‑extraction past and former landfill now covered with panels.
On the "Pelgrimspad" a missing kilometre in stage 7 has been filled, allowing hikers to continue from Schoonhoven through Bleskensgraaf to Boven‑Hardinxveld. The trail features a small bridge over the Graafstroom, a newly installed fence with cameras, and abundant wildlife such as storks, swallows, and a flock of five storks soaring above the meadows. The description notes the pleasant weather, open views and the historic wooden bridge that marks the path.
