Netherlands women's hockey team defeats Japan 9-0 at World Cup

The Netherlands women's field hockey team concluded the first group stage of the World Cup with a 9-0 victory over Japan at the Wagener Stadion in Amstelveen. The defending champions, led by coach Raoul Ehren, secured their advancement to the second group stage following previous wins against Chile and Australia.

Yibbi Jansen led the scoring with four goals, including the opening strike from a penalty corner in the 5th minute. Other goals were scored by Marijn Veen, Felice Albers, and Frédérique Matla. The Dutch team held a 5-0 lead by halftime.

Having already secured three points from their earlier victory over Australia, the Netherlands will begin the winner's pool on Friday against Australia. They will face the runner-up from Group D, where competition remains ongoing between India, China, and England.
