NetherRealm Studios rumored to be developing Injustice 3

Speculation regarding a potential announcement for Injustice 3 has intensified following reports of a recent playtest. The Good Gamer Group organized a private session in Culver City, California, on September 14 and 15, specifically targeting high-level players in the top 25% of a major 2D fighting game ranking.

Observers note that the session focused on an unannounced AAA 2D fighting game, which distinguishes it from other upcoming titles like Virtua Fighter: Crossroads or Dead or Alive 7, which are 3D titles. The location of the test in California aligns with the United States-based operations of NetherRealm Studios.

While NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have not officially confirmed any new projects, industry analysts point to historical development cycles. Following the 2023 release of Mortal Kombat 1, a four-year development window would place a potential Injustice 3 release around 2027. Previous leaks from April also suggested the project might be in an advanced stage of development.
