NetHydra 1.1.0 Linux distro ships with default root account and Mate desktop

The security‑focused Linux distribution NetHydra released version 1.1.0, also called “Leopard”. The update introduces a new version‑numbering scheme, replaces the previous yearly‑based format, and moves the project to the pwnsift.github.io site.

NetHydra now defaults to the all‑powerful root user, a choice the developer, Joe, admits is “reckless and premature” but argues is useful for many security tools that require root privileges. Users are advised to perform a fresh installation rather than upgrade via apt. The desktop environment switches to Mate, and the release adds new tools including Fluxion, ligolo‑ng, chisel and Evilginx2.

The developer stresses that NetHydra is intended for personal, expert use and should not be employed as a production work system.
