Netlist and Micron sign $600 million patent licensing deal
Netlist and Micron Technology have entered into a five-year worldwide patent licensing agreement valued at $600 million. Under the terms of the deal, Micron will make quarterly payments of $30 million starting in the fourth quarter of 2026 and continuing through the third quarter of 2031.
In exchange, Micron receives a non-exclusive license to Netlist’s patent portfolio, which includes technologies for server memory modules and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) used in artificial intelligence servers. As part of the settlement, both companies have agreed to drop and release all pending lawsuits against one another. Additionally, Micron will purchase 10 million Netlist shares for $1 million, subject to a five-year selling restriction.
Netlist shares rose approximately 18% following the announcement. This agreement follows a previous settlement between Netlist and Samsung in August. The deal highlights the growing economic value of Netlist's memory technologies within the AI sector.
